🏳️🌈 Pride Party Relocation Sparks Street Safety Concerns
Our upcoming Pride celebrations are causing a bit of a stir for locals on St James’s Street, regarding the annual street festivities. Brighton & Hove City Council decided to move the official bash from St James's Street to the A259 Marine Parade.

The residents are concerned that thousands of people will still head to the street, potentially turning it into an unplanned "free party" zone, especially with the road remaining open to traffic.
Despite Councillor Birgit Miller's assurance that a "robust plan" is in place, some feel these plans aren't quite enough to prevent safety issues for pedestrians and locals during the weekend of August 2nd and 3rd, with 20,000 tickets having already been snapped up. 🛠️ Convicted Criminals to Restore Seafront Benches
Good news for our beloved Hove "cucumber" benches! The 11 weathered benches along the seafront, which have taken a battering from the sea, are finally getting some much-needed TLC.

The work will be carried out by convicted criminals participating in the Community Payback scheme, supervised by probation officers. Local merchants are kindly supplying all the necessary materials.
This "creative solution" to seafront maintenance is much needed and we're definitely looking forward to seeing these iconic benches returned to their former glory later this month - (at no cost to the taxpayer!) Find Out More From BBC News
🎶 Iconic GAK Site Gets New Lease of Life with Socktopus
Big news for the North Laine! The former home of the legendary GAK Music Emporium is set for a fresh start with a new local tenant. After GAK closed its doors in March and there were whispers a big coffee chain might move in, it’s been confirmed that Socktopus, a local family-run business, will be taking over the prime spot.
Socktopus, already a hit with a store on nearby Bond Street, is known for its super unique and colourful sock designs. The famous giant Fender Stratocaster guitar on the shopfront and the yellow paintwork are set to go, as the building gets a fresh coat of "Socktopus blue." They’re planning to open their new, larger premises in early August, keeping some of those original interior features we all remember. Find Out More

🧤 Brighton Beach Clean
Brighton’s next beach clean is happening this Tuesday and everyone’s welcome. Just show up, bring a mate, and do a good thing for the city. Equipment like gloves, bags, and litter pickers will be provided, and the timing lines up nicely with low tide.
There’s also a drop-off for old glasses and contact lenses if you’ve got any lying around for free recycling.

🌟 Amari & Med. Make the Good Food Guide’s Top 100!
Big congratualtions to Amari and med., who have just named in the Good Food Guide’s Top 100 Restaurants in the UK!

🍷 Amari joins the Michelin Guide
A recent arrival to the city, Amari has already made serious waves — earning a place in both the 2025 Michelin Guide and the Good Food Guide’s Top 100. Set on quiet Baker Street, it brings a modern, Spanish-inspired menu full of clever small plates and bold seasonal ingredients.
The vibe is effortlessly cool but welcoming, with dishes that are thoughtful without trying too hard. Perfect for a cosy dinner, a glass of something interesting, or a night where you want to be surprised in the best way possible.

🍽️ med. keeps the wine flowing in The Lanes
Just off the buzz of East Street, med. has quietly become one of Brighton’s most reliable dining spots — and the Good Food Guide’s latest nod just seals the deal. Its modern European sharing plates are polished but playful, served in a warm, intimate space that never feels try-hard.
With a strong wine list, excellent cocktails, and a pace that invites you to settle in, it’s the kind of place where the food is as good as the conversation — and where “let’s split a few things” always ends with ordering more.

🏛️ Regency Grandeur with a View
A Grade I Regency stunner on Brunswick Terrace, this seafront showpiece brings you knockout sea views, sky-high ceilings, and period charm in every corner - although I’m 50/50 on whether I like the custard paint job…
Downstairs, four self-contained flats pull in £50k a year—not a bad bonus if you’ve just dropped £3.5 million on your forever (and ever) home.
