🍽️ Shelter Hall

I love a spot with a proper story behind it, and walking into this historic seafront venue always feels like stepping into a piece of Brighton's soul. Originally built in the 1880s as a shelter for local fishermen and beachgoers, the building has been fully restored as a vibrant seafront food and drink hall right on Kings Road Arches.

It serves as a massive incubator for independent culinary talent, housing seven rotating kitchens and two bars under one roof. Because the vendors function like thriving pop-ups, you get to support brilliant small food businesses and creative chefs doing international street food, all while sitting right on the beach. Whether you're enjoying live music on their sea-view terrace in the summer or tucked away inside for winter gigs and pop-up supper clubs, the energy inside is unbeatably lively.

What I love most is how it honours our history while giving local food creators a world-class platform to showcase their craft right on the promenade. Whether you're gathering a group where everyone wants a different cuisine or grabbing a drink by the waves, pop down to the arches and give our local food makers and this seaside hub the love they deserve.

📍 152 Kings Road Arches, BN1 1NB
🕒 Mon-Thu: 11:30am-11pm, Fri–Sat: 11am-12am, Sun: 11am-10pm

🍷 The Well

Whenever I want to swap a noisy pub session for something a little more refined without losing that easy neighbourhood charm, I head straight to this gorgeous neighbourhood bar and bottle shop near Palmeira Square. Brought to us by the brilliant trio behind the beloved Kemptown original, this Hove outpost brings that exact same effortless natural wine and craft beer magic to our side of town.

It is the ultimate spot for when you want a proper drink without any of the chaotic, shots-and-shouting energy. Inside, the space doubles as a welcoming bar and a cellar-wall merchant, where you can pick up incredible bottles to take home or enjoy right at the table. Their drink lineup is exceptional, featuring top-tier independent UK craft breweries like DEYA and Verdant, alongside a progressive, low-intervention natural wine selection. Rather than doing heavy pub meals, the food here focuses on curated, high-end nibbles and small plates. Think artisan cheese and plant-based pairings, local charcuterie, cured olives, and gourmet tinned delicacies like tapenades and marinated vegetables. Paired with vinyl playing in the background and a wonderfully relaxed vibe, it is an absolute gem of a modern drinking den.
