🐦 5 Comedy Giants, Stocking Fillers and Steamed Buns

2 candlelit concerts, indie makers and a weekend packed with laughs

In partnership with

Hello Brighton,

It’s another big weekend ahead with 5 huge stand-up names in town, even more festive fairs, candlelit concerts and a festival dedicated to local distillers. Plus, Hannington Lane is officially in full Christmas mode with lights, workshops and indie makers, and we’ve got a (kinda) new spot that specialises in one of my personal favourite foods, Bao Buns!

Here’s what’s squawking this week:

😂 Big comedy hitters landing across the city
🎄 Christmas markets, makers and cosy seasonal events
🍽️ Tiger Bites Pig arrives with Taiwanese bao buns and bowls
🎶 Live music and weekend picks all lined up

🐯 Tiger Bites Pig

Tiger Bites Pig came earlier this year from Birmingham and slipped into Brighton with quiet confidence, packing a menu that hits far harder than its tiny footprint suggests. Based in North Laine, they’re already famous for some of the best bao buns, which are always hand-rolled and steamed fresh daily, and you can taste the slow-braised hours behind every filling, from the red pork belly to the tender beef shin.

If you’re more into bowls than buns, then their rice bowls go deep on both flavour and variety: house pickles, roasted carrots, chilli, and cured egg yolk add richness to every bite. The tofu and aubergine options bring lots of warmth for vegetarians, while the sesame and chilli dishes have a proper kick without being overwhelming. Everything arrives fast, fresh, and with a generosity that feels remarkable for such a compact space.

This is casual, flavour-heavy Taiwanese cooking made for grab-and-go lunches, laidback dinners, or a mid-week hit at home of something genuinely comforting, with delivery and collection available (Deliveroo). Whether you’re after a quick bao bite or a full bowl that keeps you going through the afternoon, Tiger Bites Pig brings a brilliant slice of Birmingham’s cult favourite straight to Brighton.

📍 2 Gloucester St, North Laine
🍽️ Open Wed - Sat (12pm-9pm)
