๐Ÿฝ๏ธ DOTS

This is a brand-new business, and as I've said so many times before, I know firsthand how much support start-ups need, even when established local founders like these guys are behind them. That's exactly why I'm giving them a big push. Taking over the historic North Laine site, formerly known to locals as the 3 Jolly Butchers, DOTS has transformed it into a relaxed vinyl cafe bar and social hub.

The joint venture was launched by co-founders David from Barbino and Simon from Botanist Coffee, who combined their creative skills to build something special. Inside, The Botanist Coffee Co will manage the daytime coffee flow, making it a fantastic new spot for co-working. Barbino brings a distinct Mediterranean vibe with delicious small plates, cocktails, and natural wines. To top it all off, they host live vinyl DJs every Thursday to Saturday, with a welcome appearance from Apiary adding to the mix.

What I love most is seeing classic Brighton venues reimagined by local independents working together to keep our high street vibrant. Head over to North Road to check out the new setup and give our local food, coffee, and music spaces the love they deserve.

๐Ÿบ The Roundhill

If you are heading up Ditchling Road and want to experience one of Brighton's undisputed heavyweights in the plant-based scene, you need to check out The Roundhill. Founded in 2018 and thoughtfully refreshed under new ownership, this independent venue is a safe, inclusive, and fiercely sustainable neighbourhood haven that consistently proves vegan food does not mean compromising on big, bold flavours.

Inside, the warm aesthetic and friendly staff make you feel instantly at home, whether you are stopping in for a quick pint or settling down for a feast. In the kitchen, they take plant-based cooking seriously, serving up incredible small and large plates like their famous Panko Cauliflower Wings in sticky Gochujang sauce alongside a legendary Sunday roast that picked up top honours at the BRAVOs. Behind the bar, sustainability takes centre stage with 7 rotating craft taps and house-made cocktail syrups, alongside zero-waste wines delivered in reusable bottles. It is creative, completely unpretentious, and a shining beacon of green innovation in our city.
