🌿 My Skin Feels
Our local independent scene has done it again, proving that Brighton is still the engine room for brilliant, eco-friendly ideas. You might have seen the buzz recently as this homegrown brand just landed a spot on the UK’s Top 100 Startups list. Founded right here in the city, My Skin Feels is turning the beauty industry on its head by ditching the corporate fluff and proving that everyday products can be completely sustainable.
What makes them so unique is their clever, circular approach to ingredients. Rather than using freshly harvested resources, they rescue surplus organic waste from the food and drink industry that would otherwise be discarded. We’re talking upcycled tomato skins, rescued oat waste, and leftover olive oil blended into top-tier skincare. It’s a completely refreshed way of looking at everyday essentials, turning what others waste into something genuinely amazing.
The brand is a real testament to that classic Brighton drive, refusing to do things the old way and finding creative solutions to big problems. Everything they create is vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated with a proper, down-to-earth passion for the planet. Seeing a tiny, passionate local business punch well above its weight on the national stage like this is exactly why we love shouting about our community.
If you haven’t checked out their lineup yet, it is an absolute must-experience. Whether you want to upgrade your morning routine or grab a gift that’s genuinely kind to the planet, their stuff is well worth a look. Check them out online or spot them at independent markets around the city to support a brilliant homegrown team.
📍 Born and based in Brighton (Available online & select local stockists)

🍺 Hove Place
If you’ve ever wandered down First Avenue in Hove, you’ll know it’s all very grand, very tree-lined, and usually makes you wish you had a few more zeros in your bank account. But tucked away among all that Regency poshness is Hove Place, a brilliant little bistro pub that manages to be both a proper, down to earth local and a slightly fancy retreat when you want to feel a bit sophisticated. The front bar has great traditional wood panels and classic pub energy, but honestly, in this absolutely ridiculous, beautiful weather we're having, you need to ignore the inside entirely and head straight out the back.
I’m not exaggerating when I say their rear garden is easily one of the best hidden gems in the city. Stepping out there feels like you’ve accidentally stumbled out of Hove and straight into a lush, manicured Italian oasis without the flights and the airport queues. It is hands down the absolute ideal place to soak up the sunshine right now. They pour a cracking pint of Harvey’s Sussex Best, but frankly, when the sun is cracking the flags like this, it’s rude not to order a crisp glass of wine or a cheeky Aperol Spritz to enjoy alfresco.
The food is a proper step up from your standard, greasy pub grub, too. The kitchen does a really confident, bistro style menu that champions local Sussex produce, so you can graze on clever little sharing plates or face plant a seriously good dry aged steak burger. Sundays are also a massive local event here, with the kind of generous roasts that require a post meal nap. The staff are lovely, the vibe is totally unpretentious, and if you’re looking for a gorgeous sunshine sanctuary to lose an afternoon in this week, this is your sign.

How High Are Art Prices Today? The Latest from Spring Auctions…
How High Are Art Prices Today? The Latest from Spring Auctions…
$85,800,000 for a Rothko
$98,385,000 for ANOTHER Rothko
$107,585,000 for a Brancusi sculpture
$181,200,000 for a Pollock
Sounds crazy, but those masterpieces were once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for the ultra-rich buyers. Postwar contemporary art’s scarcity is largely what’s driven appreciation that’s comparable to even the S&P over the last thirty years.*
Obviously, art investing is out of reach for most people.
But since 2017, Masterworks has taken a data-driven approach to investing in art, making it accessible to individual investors.
Masterworks members can invest in shares of artwork by Rothko, Basquiat, Warhol, and others. When a piece sells, they get a share of the proceeds.
Over $1.2 billion has been deployed across over 500+ artworks. And 29 exits to-date have delivered net annualized returns like 16.5%, 17.6% and 17.8% on pieces held longer than a year, not including those unsold.
